Hi friends! Thank you all so much for indulging me before and giving me suggestions for names. Today I was making a list of favorites and looking online for some more ideas. Here is a tentative list, which is quite long. I am sure that once I show it to hubby it will be shortened by at least half. He is so picky about names! But for now this is what it looks like and I was hoping you all would help me by picking a couple of favorites and a couple of ones you don't like. I won't be offended, so just be honest. You can also give me reasons why you don't like them. For example I used to like the name Caroline until I had a boss by that name...
Or I love the name Jillian or Gillian but I don't want her to be called Jill. No offense to any Jills.
Here is my list in totally random order:
Hallie
Jillian
Della
Camellia
Willow
Sydney*
Juliana
Sophie*
Lauren
Adrienne*
Ava
Lilian
Hannah*
Savana
Margot
The stars are kind of top ones right now.
What do you think???
Nudie Jeans
Faith
Burberry
I LOVE Juliana, Ave, and Margot.
Good Luck!
1*Ava
2Well, my favorite by far because I
that name is Juliana; I think it's a beautiful,
feminine, sweet name.
3The other one I love from the list is Ava, short, with personality, it is the name of a star.
From the top ones my favorite is Sophie, although I don't know in English but in Spanish there are too many Sofías under 18 years old. But it's a cute name. Sorry, but I don't like Adrienne.
From the rest of the list, most of them are cute except Camellia ( I don't have a reason but I don't like it) and Lilian ( it's kind of a rude name for me)
Sorry if I've offended somebody with my words, but this is only my opinion.
Yay, for Juliana and Ava
4I love Sophie and Ava!
5
Lola! Lilian is a rude name. I know what you mean though, sometimes a name just rubs you the
wrong way.
6I really like Jillian, Sydney, Sophie, Ava and Lauren. They are girly girl names and I guess that's what I like. Just my opinion...
Good luck and you've got a great start on a list!!!! WOO HOO!!!
7I like Hallie (I have a cousin Hali), Sophie and Ava.
8I don't know what is the correct word, but it sounds "rude" to me
9Sydney is my fav
10I like Jillian the best. My sisters' name is Jillian... we called her by Jillie when she was little (and still do sometimes)... and her little friends called her that or Jillie Bean... People didn't start calling her Jill until HS, but she didn't grow up with them. She still prefers Jillian. (Of course we have our own names for each other, she's Bean and I'm Sissy (I am the oldest). My mother had the same problem with the name as you do, so you're not alone
Another one I like is Sophie. My friend has a daughter named Sophia, and she has gone by Sophie her whole life. I think it's very feminine. Also, can't think of any mean nicknames.
I don't like Hannah. It just seems a little tom-boyish and reminds me of the Hannah Barbarra cartoons. I don't like Willow as much either, for your girl may be teased. The reason for that one was because she was the red-headed witch in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That might cause problems with bad nicknames/references (especially because in the show she was a lesbian). I don't care that she's a lesbian; I have friends and family that are lesbian/gay. I'm very strongly involved in the HRC. And sorry, one more I don't like, Camellia. She could possibly be called Camel and it just sounds too much like tea that I drink to go to sleep
Oh, and definitely don't pick any names that you don't like because of another person in your life. Also, when I've thought of baby names I like, my friends started naming their kids by the same ones I loved. You go first!
I've thought this through a lot! Good luck! And I hope your husband likes the ones you narrow it down to.
11My top 3 favorites are: Ava, Hannah and Sophie; I love those! My least favorite is Margot; there is something about it that seems snobby, lol.
12I love Sophie, Hannah (because that's my little girls name)& Lauren
13I love Sophie, Hannah (because that's my little girls name)& Lauren
14Sorry I do not know how I double posted. I guess while I am back I can say I like the name Ava too but as a little girl it sounds too grown up.
15I love Sophie, Ava (I have a niece named Ava, love it), Hannah, Hallie (I know a little girl by that name too, and I always thought it was cute).
16I like Lauren and Savana b/c Lauren is my real name and Savannah is my daughter's.
But be forewarned about things like Jillian/Jill-- people automatically assume that since my name is Lauren, they can shorten it to Laurie and Laura. It makes me batsh*t crazy b/c I don't
like either of those nicknames.
17I LOVE:
Sophie
Ava
Willow
Sydney
Sophie and Ava, I think, are classic names that are very sweet and timeless. Also very feminine and "clean". Willow is just too cute and also a bit out of the ordinary (at least to me), but still not too "quirky", if you know what I mean
Sydney is also very pretty and girly. I tend to like names with a "y" or "ie" in the end
I don't like Camellia, Jillian or Juliana...sorry!
Don't have a good reason
for it either...
I think Margot is cute but I'm not 100% sure of how you pronounce it
Is it
"Margo"?
Maybe because it's an unusual name for me...maybe it'll grow on me
I'm also unsure of how you pronounce Adrienne? I'm not so sure about that name...there's something I don't like about it and I don't know what
I like Hannah to, it's pretty....but I know sooooooo many Hannah's so to be it's a big average...
18YOu seem to be going for classic names i'm glad, you have great taste!
19I like Ava and Sophie the most from your list. I have a suggestion, i would narrow it down to 5 names, (ask your son to participate too so its a family affair)fold up the 5 names and throw them in a cup, and ask him to pick two names. And that will be her first and last name. Can you tell thats what im planning on doing in the future lol.
How about Kimberly? I'm not sure if you like unisex names like Sean, Morgan, or Madison. Just my suggestions
20I don't like the names Amanda, Julie, or Pauline.
The names are those from the list, if I don't get wrong, aren't them RGrl? You don't need new names.
21my name is Amanda.....
*fiend goes to put Luvpizaman on her sh*t list
*
22My favorite from your list is Lauren. Very classic and pretty. I like Willow as well.
I'm going to go against the majority and say that I"m not crazy about Ava. Not because I don't like the name, it is a pretty name, but because it is becoming VERY popular. That may not matter to you, though. My husband and I tried to pick names for our boys that we didn't hear that often, so that is just where I"m coming from.
In the end, you must pick whatever name you fall in love with. Just follow your heart! (and your husband can have a little input, too, i guess
)
23i really like willow, juliana, margot, and ava. they're gorgeous names. and they're not too overused. ava is getting pretty popular, but you still don't meet a lot of avas.
i don't really like sophie and hannah because sooooo many little girls already have those names. i taught preschool dance a couple of years ago, and it seemed like every other student was named sophie or sophia...a few hannahs too.
24Sophie and Ava but I like Ava the most of the 2
Good Luck
25Oh, then in US is the same as in my country, Sophie and Sofía is a name you listen all the time. I mean, is a beautiful name, but too used lately.
26I meant, it's a beautiful name...
27I've always liked Ava, but agree that it's becoming just a bit too popular. I was on a bus the other day and there were 3 little girls together, ALL named Ava. I was a bit surprised.
I've always loved the name Sophie, and I've recently gotten friendly with a girl named Margot and I find I like it a lot.
When will your husband go at the list and we get the next version?
28luvpizaman: you should really watch what you say about peoples' names. And please, read the posts before you say something. You've offended me by Barfing over my name.
I'm with you Fiend!
29Sorry ladies, people are so particular about names and everyone has their own opinions.
30I know there are names I would barf over, but if I met someone nice by that name it wouldn't matter because then I would associate that name with the person I liked. So don't be offended if someone doesn't like your name.
I Love the names Juliana and Ava, they are my faves. Hannah is cute for a girl too! Good Luck choosing, let us know what you eventually will pick!
31Hey RG check out this thing http://www.babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html It tells you how many babies have any name and when throughout the years the name was popular. Pretty cool.
32I went to a gymnastics class with Logan today and there were two little girls named Ava there. I think I need too cross it off since it's so popular.
33You have a great list! I personally like Hannah.
34RomaniaGrl, you're right about the names. I'm sorry for messing up your special post with such cattiness. I was in a bad mood last night and it hit a nerve.
35syako: that's a great link!
36Ava and juliana....
37From the list I like Ava, I also like Debora very much, in my language it means snow, and also that's my sisters name. I now that Debora it's not included on your list but I thought maybe you would like it, if not there are plenty of names and I'm sure you'll find the most beautiful name for your baby
38Della, Sophie, Ava are nice
I dislike Adrienne, Margot, Hannah and Savanah
39Sophie .. like a princess
40I love Ava! But it's a little bit short though
41Oh and I also love Lauren, so classic and beautiful yet feminine. And my name's Julienne but good friends call me Julie, so Juliana would be great for a short form like Julia. You see, I really like short forms for a change and for people who know you well, it's kind of a prerogative to call someone by his short name
that's why I think Ava is too short
42From the list I would pick Juliana.
By the way I love your avatar/beautiful tummy!
43Pregnant woman are so radiant!
I really like Camellia and Sophia
Must be so exciting for you to pick out names !!

46I love:
47Adrienne*
Ava
Sophie
oh dear, i was kidding about Luvapizaman's comment. I have some names that make me wanna barf too so i understand her reaction. usually i just avoid calling the person by their name and i make up lil nicknames for them. Areidz thanks for coming to my defense, i appreciate it. And Luvapizaman your not on my sh*t list, your on my
list though!
i kid! i Kid!
48I like Ava 'cos it's classy and timeless. So exciting that you are having a baby Romaniagirl, you look fabulous in your profile pic - such a pretty bump, I bet she'll be a pretty baby whatever you call her!
49Juliana
50Sophie*
